Cattle, sheep, pigs and goats will not be exhibited at the Kingsbridge Show as a precaution against foot-and-mouth disease.
Organisers of the agricultural show said only cloven-hoofed animals would be absent and other animals, including horses and poultry, would still be able to attend.
Livestock movement controls were put in place after the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in Surrey three weeks ago.
"Due to the continuing movement ban due to the suspected foot and mouth cases, cattle, sheep, pigs and goats will not be attending the show but everything else will be continuing as normal," said Jacqueline Broad, show secretary.
About 200 cattle, sheep, pigs and goats normally attend the event, which is a long-standing and popular end-of-season gathering for the local farming community as well as a fun family day out.
As usual the 2007 Kingsbridge Show takes place at Borough Farm, Stumpy Post, just a mile north of the town.
Despite the livestock ban, Broad said the show would still offer plenty of top events, including a family dog show, a performance by the Company of Horses stunt riding team and the Young Farmers' bale rolling competition.

This year's show will also feature show jumping and other equine classes, an inter-hunt rally, donkey rides and live music from the Estuary Band.
The fire brigade will be making an appearance, while the Britannia Beagles and the hounds of the Dart Vale and South Pool Harriers will also be on parade.
The show's food and drink tent will be a showcase for local produce on the big day, while the craft marquee will be bursting with locally-made craft items to admire and buy.
Timeshift will be in the craft tent too - this is an extensive archaeological collection to view and discuss, with an opportunity to have your own finds identified - a bit like Antiques Road Show but with ancient artefacts!
There are also the usual vast array of trade stands around the showground.
On-site catering, including a licensed bar, will be available.
The Kingsbridge Show's livestock element was also cancelled during the 2001 outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
Thousands of local people flock to the show - one of Devon's largest one-day agricultural events - each year to enjoy its mix of entertainment and a celebration of the countryside.
This year's show will take place on September 1 at Borough Farm, Stumpy Post, from 9.30am to 5pm.
A free bus runs from the Quay at Kingsbridge at noon and 2pm to the showground and returns back to the Quay, leaving the show at 2.30pm and 5pm - thanks to Tally Ho! Coaches.
Adult tickets will cost £6, while children (under school age free) can enter for just £2. There is plenty of free car parking at the showground.
