During the course of a year, Overbeck's, a beautiful Mediterranean-style garden, has all sorts of events and happenings.

Overbeck's has spectacular views of the Salcombe Estuary and is set just above the coastal path.

The garden, which was the brainchild of scientist Otto Overbeck, is very sheltered and is home to a wide range of sub-tropical plants.

Below is a list of selected major events taking place at Overbeck's, which is located in Salcombe, in the second half of 2007.

Thursday 16 August
Family Storytelling (11.30am to 4.30pm)
Spellbinding stories of mystery magic and adventure told by a master storyteller in the garden (under canvas).

Friday 7 September
Open Heritage Day (10am to 5pm)
Admission free. Taster garden and house tours between 12 noon and 4pm.

Sunday 21 October
Animal Houses (Family workshops)
Discover different types of wildlife habitats at Overbeck's and design and create your own 'house' from natural materials. 12 noon to 1pm and 2pm to 3pm. No booking necessary. Usual admission plus £1.50 per child.

Saturday 15 December
Christmas at Overbeck's (3pm and 6pm)
A performance of festive song with wintry tales. Enjoy the beautiful voices of Exeter singing quartet 'Nota Bene' in the intimate setting of the Staircase Hall. Last year this very popular concert was an instant sell-out! Mulled wine and mince pies will be served during the interval.

Something Extra..

Salcombe Walks (11am)
Join the team at Overbeck's for a 1 to 2 hour walk on National Trust (NT) paths exploring both the coast and countryside. Make a day of it and pre-order lunch in advance.

Dates: Friday 6 July, Friday 3 August and Friday 7 September.

Garden Tours (1.30pm)
Every Wednesday explore the gardens with one of Overbeck's team. An hour's tour taking in the seasonal highlights of the garden. May to the end of September.
