Ellis scores in Torquay defeat

8th October 2007

Kingsbridge youngster Mark Ellis scored Torquay's only goal in their 2-1 defeat at lowly Ebbsfleet Utd on Saturday.

Luke Moore headed Ebbsfleet into a 77th minute lead, but Ellis, 19, equalised for the Gulls when he nodded home an 82nd-minute corner.

However, Stacy Long fired home from Moore's pass three minutes from time to give Ebbsfleet an underserved win.

Torquay United missed a host of chances as they saw their lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier cut to just a single point.

Chris Zebroski, Lee Phillips and Tim Sills all went close for the Gulls.

Ellis, a former Kingsbridge Community College student, also picked up a second-half booking.
