Kingsbridge youngster Mark Ellis scored an unfortunate own goal in Torquay's last gasp 2-1 win over lowly Droylsden at Plainmoor on Saturday.
Ellis, a former Kingsbridge Community College student, deflected Jamie Tandy's cross past hapless goalkeeper Simon Rayner and into his own net on 42 minutes.
The 19-year-old central defender, who has joined the Gulls on a month's loan from Premiership side Bolton, was then substituted for Ishmael Welsh on 56 minutes.
But striker Tim Sills rose above the Droylsden defence to head home his ninth goal of the campaign and draw Torquay level.
And Lee Phillips scored with a powerful header in the 89th minute to give Torquay the win.
This win extends Torquay's lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier table to four points.
