East Allington Utd Reserves progressed to the second round of the Fred Hewings Cup after defeating a hardworking Moretonhampstead Reserves on Saturday.
The homeside got off to a dream start when in the first few minutes an Andy Weeks free kick from out wide deceived the Moretonhampstead goalkeeper who could only help it into the top corner.
The second goal was a delightful move with Jon Edgecombe feeding Ben Robey, who in turn pulled the ball back for strike partner Chris Jebb to finish.
Danny Knight, who tormented the Moretonhampstead left back all game, added the third when his drive was turned into the net by the Moreton keeper.
A mix up in the Allington defence saw Moreton pull one back but Knight made it 4-1 on the stroke of half time when he raced onto a Steve Weeks through ball before finishing well.
The second half saw Allington start sloppy with a Moreton player breaking through a couple of tackles before firing home a superb left-footed strike from the edge of the area to make it 4-2.
With about 20 minutes to go, Danny Tucker, who was carrying a rib injury, replaced Jon Edgecombe and he made an instant impact, playing a neat one-two with Alex Browne before putting in Robey who calmly slotted home.
The final goal of the game saw Jebb beat the offside trap to get on the end of a Robey pass and producing an exquisite chip over the keeper from 20 yards.
This Saturday, Allington travel to Staverton and Landscove for a Lidstone Cup encounter.
