East Allington Utd Reserves bounced back from last week's disappointing defeat at Paignton Villa with a well-earned point against Stoke Gabriel on Saturday.
The homeside showed great character to produce an excellent fightback after finding themselves 3-0 down after just 25 minutes.
Stoke Gabriel were awarded a penalty in the first few minutes when the ball bounced up and unluckily hit Matt Duffy's hand. The visitors made no mistake from 12 yards as they took a 1-0 lead.
The awayside went 2-0 up when a midfielder burst into the box and even though he miss hit his shot it still found its way into the back of the net.
Stoke Gabriel's third goal of the afternoon came when a long ball through the middle found their forward who finished well.
Allington could have quite easily let their heads drop after last week's 8-1 hammering but they responded superbly. The lively Ben Robey pulled a goal back just before half-time with a cool finish to get them right back into the game.
Allington's team talk at half time put the emphasis on getting the next goal as they believed if they got it they would get something out of the game.
Andy Week's talented young side put in an excellent second-half performance and created numerous chances.
Ten minutes into the second half the hardworking Chris Jebb pulled another goal back when he chased a long clearance which the Stoke Gabriel keeper completely missed and Jebb had the simple task of running the ball into the empty net.
It was now nearly all Allington with the Stoke Gabriel keeper making a couple of outstanding saves from Danny Knight, a Stoke Gabriel defender hitting his own post and Jebb having an effort deflected onto the bar.
Just as it looked as though it was going to be one of those days Jebb played in Knight who scored with a superb finish to make it 3-3.
With time running out both teams had a chance to win this pulsating South Devon Division Two encounter. Allington keeper Seth Gloyn made a superb save, while Knight dragged his shot just wide after playing a neat one-two with the impressive Jebb.
This Saturday, Allington Reserves host Moretonhampstead Reserves in the Fred Hewings Cup.
