Firefighters have spent the afternoon tackling a car fire in a car park in Kingsbridge, south Devon.

Crews were called to the car park at Somerfield on Cookworthy Road at about 1630 BST.

The vehicle, a white Volkswagen Polo, was badly damaged but fortunately no-one was injured.

A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was unknown.

An investigation is now under way.
