A motorcyclist who died in a collision with a car near Kingsbridge has been identified by police.
Julian Drew, from the Kingsbridge area, suffered fatal injuries in the crash on the A381 between West Alvington and Malborough at 2000 BST on Friday.
The 43-year-old had been riding a Suzuki GSXR 1000cc motorbike at the time of the accident.
He was declared dead at the scene.
"The motorcyclist was heading in the direction of West Alvington and the car (a Volkswagen Passat) was heading in the opposite direction," a police spokesman said.
"Initial inquiries indicate the motorcyclist somehow lost control and was on the right-hand side of the road at the time of the collision.
"Police were called by ambulance crews."
The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man from Malborough, suffered minor injuries and was not taken to hospital, the spokesperson added.
