Ideas sought on how best to help our rural communities

Ideas sought on how best to help our rural communities

9th April 2008

The South Devon Coastal Local Action Group (SDCLAG) is calling on local communities to come forward with ideas for projects to form part of a bid to secure 5 years worth of external funding for rural communities.

The South Devon Coastal Local Action Group (SDCLAG) is a local partnership of public, private, community and voluntary representatives in South Devon who are submitting a bid for external funding to run a new 5 year Programme to help rural communities. This is a competitive bid to the Rural Development Programme which must be submitted by 23 May.

SDCLAG is an evolving group which currently includes: Parish & Town Councils, South Hams District Council, South Devon AONB and representatives of local businesses, voluntary and community groups.

The partnership wants to hear from local communities on what they believe to be their priorities and what kind of projects and areas of work could be included in a local development strategy for parishes situated in the South Devon Coastal Area.

The consultation with local communities in the SDCLAG area will be through workshops as well as written and emailed communication.

The next workshop will be held at Kingsbridge Community College 6th Form Centre on Wednesday 16th April. [/b]
