A strong demand for fresh local produce has led to a second monthly farmers' market being set up.
The extra farmers' market for Kingsbridge is being launched on May 17 at the Town Square, Kingsbridge, between 9am and 1pm.
The success and popularity of the town's original farmers' market, held on the first Saturday of each month, with over 30 producers attending each market showed that there is a demand for quality, fresh local produce.
The second market will be held on the third Saturday of each month.
The usual variety of produce will be on sale, including cured meats, pies, cakes, pastries, pates, free range eggs, apple juice, fruit and vegetables, preserves, trees and shrubs, bedding plants.
South Hams District Council's business support officer, Carol Trant said: "The community within Kingsbridge and the surrounding area have embraced the market to such an extent that it has become necessary to hold two markets each month. It is encouraging that more and more people want to buy local and help keep the food miles down."
Executive member for prosperity Cllr Bill Hitchins said: "Farmers' markets within the South Hams continue to grow in popularity, which can only be good for local farmers and producers. Increasingly people want quality, local produce and they want to know where it has come from. We are luck to have such a wealth of quality food producers in the district."
The Kingsbridge Farmers' Market which is organised by South Hams District Council and South Hams Agricultural Forum will operate monthly on the first and third Saturday between 9am and 1pm.
